Iris first entered the hotel industry in 1995. Between 1995 and 2006 the Group acquired 12 freehold hotels and one leasehold hotel.
The strategy was to acquire freehold venues in suburban Sydney with strong gaming revenues, solid retail trade and underlying land values. The focus was in Sydney’s fastest growing south-western residential corridors, and on venues where there was potential for improvement in operational performance using Iris’ industry-leading operating model.
The Group held several of Sydney’s top gaming venues and operated 358 gaming machines.
